Step 1: Selecting and Preparing Your Source Video
Before generating captions, ensure your video audio is clear and speech is easily audible above background music. Whether you recorded a vertical Reel on your smartphone or a landscape clip on a desktop camera, SubSnap supports MP4, WebM, and MOV video formats seamlessly.
Open the SubSnap Video Editor and drop your video file directly into the upload pane. The system instantly detects the video's dimensions, orientation, and native framerate.
Step 2: Automated Speech Transcription and Language Selection
SubSnap features multilingual speech recognition covering more than 100 languages and regional dialects. In the Language selector, you can either keep Auto-Detect enabled or pick your exact source language (such as English, Hindi, Spanish, Arabic, or French).
Click Generate Subtitles. The platform extracts the audio track and processes the speech into accurate word-level timestamps. Within seconds, your full transcript appears in the interactive editor.
Step 3: Reviewing Timestamps and Punctuation
While automated transcription delivers high fidelity, proper nouns, brand names, and niche terminology occasionally require quick manual verification.
Use the built-in Subtitle Editor tab to review word timings, adjust capitalization, or correct spelling. Clicking any word in the transcript jumps the video preview immediately to that timestamp for instant verification.
Step 4: Choosing Your Animation and Color Preset
Switch to the Style tab to choose an aesthetic that matches your branding:
Bounce Pop
Features an active scaling pop on every spoken word with thick outlines. Excellent for energetic vlogs, tutorials, and short comedy sketches.
Highlight Pill
Wraps the active word in a high-contrast rounded background badge. Ideal for business, tech explanations, and financial commentary.

A subtle, minimalist subtitle layout designed for narrative storytelling and documentary formats.
Step 5: Exporting Finished Videos or Downloading Subtitle Files
Once you are satisfied with the preview, click Export Video. The cloud rendering engine composites the animated overlay directly onto your video frames at original resolution.
